JOB DESCRIPTION
APX is seeking an Engineer with Electrical experience to join our team. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for engaging with customers and the sales, manufacturing and purchasing teams to arrive upon the optimal design and layout of NEMA 3R, 4X and other similar-style electrical enclosures.

A solid understanding of issues related to electrical equipment design and wiring layout is essential. In addition, experience in a manufacturing environment is key to ensuring that the customer and sales discussions can be efficiently translated into drawings, plans and procedures for the shop floor to execute successfully. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop electrical schematics based on the project needs
  • Follow customer's specifications during the design phase
  • Creating panel layouts using SolidWorks, AutoDesk Inventor or AutoCAD
  • Interact with the customer representative throughout the design process to ensure that all of the client's needs are met
  • Develop Bill of Materials for electrical and non-electrical components and assemblies
  • Work with the sales team, the engineering and potential customers to determine optimal solutions designing and fabricating their applications
  • Quotes electrical components
  • Creating engineering drawings, wiring schematics and other required documentation to fully define standard and custom enclosure projects
  • Develop cable schedules and conduit layouts if required by the project
  • Review drawings of other electrical engineers and electrical designers
  • Work with purchasing department to identify and qualify suppliers as needed
  • Work with manufacturing and engineering management to problem-solve and train the team on the floor on issues related to the electricals
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or AutoDesk Inventor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards, specifically NEMA 3R/4X and UL 508A
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Results oriented and innovative
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
  • Ability to visualize a process or system from concept to development
  • Knowledgeable in sheet metal fabrication processes and experience with designing sheet metal components
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, vendors and other stakeholders.
